Last month my cousin got married in Malibu. Needless to say, my Flip camera got LOTS of mileage that day, what with the beautiful scenery, the beautiful new couple, and plenty of wild dancing sequences (thanks in a large part to my ham of a cousin!).

My favorite part about putting videos together is finding the perfect song. I had been saving this one for a special occasion and it came together exactly as I envisioned.

I love when that happens.

Making things with my own two hands is all I ever want to do (aside from napping) and these past few weeks have been no exception. Here’s are three things that have been making me oh-so-happy lately:

1. Since I can’t bear to part with plane tickets, receipts from cool places, business cards, maps, etc, I figured I needed a place to house all of my treasures. Taking inspiration from various places + people (including Elise’s summer book, Project Life, and Amy’s minibooks), I made this little book. And because all I have to do is punch holes or stick things into envelopes, it’s SO easy to stay motivated.

It also means I have a good reason to use up all these of fun office + scrapbook supplies! FUN.

2. For four dollars, I ended up with my new favorite necklace. And here’s the craziest part of all…it’s from Lowe’s!!! While looking for cool nuts and bolts to make a bracelet, I happened upon the CHAIN SECTION. Have you SEEN the chain section? A crafter’s dream. Here’s how you do it: 1. Buy as much chain as you think you will need, 2. Connect the two ends together with a thin wire, 3. Wear everyday for the rest of your life.

3. Amy Tan has been hanging out at American Crafts all week (did you guys hear the BIG NEWS???!!!) and we’ve loved having her around. It was my job to film her as we went out + about, making stops for shopping + lunch at CK… talk about a tough assignment! HA! Mark then took all the clips and put together this cute little video of Amy presenting her line. Enjoy!

What do you know! Another video! Because you haven’t seen enough yet.

We had such a fun time in Vegas, I had a hard time deciding what clips would make it into the video. Definitely not a bad problem to have. Also, I just figured out how MUCH space 500MB really is (the Vimeo weekly upload limit)…heck, I could crank out another 3 videos this week if I wanted! But I won’t.

Or maybe I will…? (Ha!)

p.s. On an unrelated note, I downloaded The Bird + The Bee’s album of Hall + Oates’ covers this past weekend and I can’t stop listening! SO good. Just thought I would share.

This past weekend was shower time for my good friend Heather and baby Logan!

This, of course, meant I got to see all but one of my friends (we miss you and love you, Val!). Since graduating college, we’ve spread out all over the place…Jaymee in Hawaii, Liz in Georgia, Val in Washington, Sarah (soon to be) in North Carolina, me in Utah, and Janelle, Heather A, Heather M, Angie + Christina all over Southern California. So when we all reunite, it’s a BIG FREAKIN’ DEAL.

This also meant that my friends had to appease me and let me film their every move, all in the name of videographic excellence!*

*If cheesy skits and loud obnoxious laughing (my own) is your idea of excellence!

This past Friday, I, along with my co-workers Sarah + Lindsey, went to a convention called Scrapbook USA. (If that title doesn’t make you proud to be an American, then I don’t know what will.)

I think we stayed there for a total of 15 minutes, it was THAT good.

And so as not to forget about our memorable day (or what shoes we were wearing), I made a video about it. And I’m POSITIVE that Sarah, Lindsey and I are the only ones who will appreciate this, but what the hell! Enjoy a little Miley, on my behalf.

This past Saturday, John and I went to Hogle Zoo in SLC and had a blast! It’s a small zoo (well, compared to the massive San Diego Zoo), but they have a lot of great exhibits. I think I loved the baby elephant and the foxes the most. From there, we walked across the street to Heritage Park (or is it called This Is the Place? Either way, it’s a Mormon place), and then we headed to Sugar House for some Chipotle! Such a good day. Every weekend should be so good.

More with the iPhone-in-the-mirror-self-portraits! Lord help me.

John loves eagles. And America. And wearing his Lakers hat in Jazz country.

Zac Efron was here! Found the high school where “High School Musical” was shot, on accident. We have now seen where “The Office” and “High School Musical” are filmed. What more could you want?

I’m fairly certain that my dog is a distant cousin to this cute little fox (look at those ears!).

And for good measure (and because it’s becoming my new favorite hobby), here’s another little video showing our weekend adventures here in good ol’ Utah.

P.S. Stay tuned ’til the end to see my magical ribbon dancing skills. You won’t want to miss it.

I was able to score some last minute seats to Wednesday night’s Jazz vs Heat game, as an early Christmas gift for John. And quite honestly, I think I was more excited about it than he was!

As a result of spending lots of time with someone who eats, sleeps, breathes basketball, I’ve come to appreciate the game AND can even name some players without any hints! Impressive, I know. We were both super excited to see LeBron and Dwyane Wade!

You guys, Jazz fans are intense! And part of their intensity comes from their G-rated smack talk. I had to laugh out loud a few times at the “vulgar” comments I heard flying around: “You look DUMB, LeBron!” “Deron just made you look STUPID” “We’re going to kick your BUTT!” (Oh my…). But the highlight of the night was when a slightly obnoxious (but totally hilarious!) Heat fan in front of us was heckling the Jazz fans behind us and I heard the guy behind me mutter “your mother would not be proud of you.” WHAT?! That was your ultimate comeback? HAHAHAH! I decided Jazz fans are like Lakers fans. Minus the alcohol, foul language, and inclination to fight. Plus a strictly LDS following.

We had a great time and enjoyed seeing downtown SLC all lit up for the holidays. Must do it again soon!

P.S. Making videos is my new obsession. In case you haven’t noticed.

So a few weeks back, Lindsey invited me to go to the holiday-themed Bijou Market in Provo.

And ohmigod, talk about an amazing, visually-overwhelming (in the best way possible) time! So many awesome designers…I can’t even begin to explain how inspiring the whole event was, so why don’t I just show you?

P.S. This is how I entertained myself while flying home last week. Totally made the time fly by (no pun intended)!

The Cam Show. Love love love it.

The other day John spotted an HD Flip camera at Target for fifty percent off. We’re talking, originally priced at 200, now priced at 100. I’m about as stingy as they come, so there was no way in the glorious state of Utah that I was passing on that!

And as it turns out, I’m quite obsessed with it. (No surprise there.)

Fast forward to two days later, and all of a sudden we have two pups in our apartment (the abridged version: we went for a walk, spotted two adorable pups, they followed us home, so we put them up for the night, complete with lots of yummy food and treats and a cozy spot on John’s lap/the couch to sleep on, and now they are safe and sound at the Humane Society where I hope their owners/new owners with a good home will reclaim them ASAP.) Talk about perfect opportunity to bust out the Flip! (sidenote: excuse the living space in total disarray…we had to move things and cover things for our unexpected guests!)

I have to say, it totally broke my heart (we’re talking massive waterworks on my behalf) that we couldn’t keep them. They are such well-behaved, affectionate, obedient dogs who deserve a loving home with a big backyard and lots of kids to play with! But thanks to the Flip, we will always remember our pups for a day. (And cue the cheesy “Full House” learning moment music)
